Responsibilities

The Director of Learning and Development works closely with senior leadership to align learning and professional development strategy with organizational priorities and goals, with an eye to increasing retention and performance by offering high quality educational offerings. This individual leads a team in course creation and is responsible for all curriculum development and instructional design, ensuring content accurately represents Company policies, business practices, and government regulations, while meeting Atria’s brand standards and quality expectations. This individual also oversees the organization of the Learning Management System (LMS) including course assignments, compliance reporting, and all associated communications. He/she is also responsible for measuring the effectiveness of the instruction and evaluating opportunities for process improvements that best utilize emerging best practices and training innovations. 

  • Work with executive leadership to identify performance needs and learning gaps to determine curriculum development priorities and delivery solutions, which will provide desired results that tie directly into Atria’s overall strategic goals and priorities.
  • Drive course creation and curriculum revision process to assure compliance with Atria standards, state and federal regulations and other identified needs, leveraging expertise in instructional design and learning technologies, products and services.
  • Act as project manager, ensuring project flow is followed, which includes kick-off meetings, managing to deadlines, and ensuring appropriate stakeholders receive frequent project update communications.
  • Understand and monitor the critical path on projects to identify and remove obstacles that could impact development timelines and meeting established deadlines.
  • Work with cross-functional teams including subject matter experts, Employee Communications, Marketing, Operations, etc. to achieve learning objectives.
  • Partner with senior leadership to implement strategic talent and leadership development programs aligned with organizational direction and goals.
  • Direct the organization and maintenance of the LMS and all associated dashboards, reporting, and communications.
  • Oversee quality assurance testing on all courses in development and uploaded to the LMS and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Drive the evaluation/selection of any third-party development contractors and participate in review of projects.
  • Provide insight and recommendations to the selection and adoption of instructional materials, tools, media and software for online and classroom training events with consideration of budgetary constraints.
  • Interpret and analyze all program evaluation results. Establish measurable goals to show impact of learning and development program.
  • Manage curriculum and instructional design team. Assess the skills and competencies of team members and recommend professional development opportunities to ensure the team remains current with evolving best practices, etc.
  • Establish an innovative, challenging, motivating and collaborative work environment. Build an effective and productive team, continuously focused on achieving business objectives.
  • Responsible for the interviewing, hiring, training, developing and evaluating of assigned staff.
  • May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from four (4) year college or university in adult education, human resources, organizational development or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • A strong people manager who is highly collaborative and an inclusive team player.
  • Expert knowledge of learner-centric instructional design and learning technologies, as well as adult learning principles.
  • Strong, well-organized project manager capable of multi-tasking and who is self-motivated.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Flexible and responsive to changing priorities.
  • Must have or be willing to get a COVID-19 vaccine, subject to legal requirements.
