The Operations Paralegal provides paralegal support to the Company and Atria communities within designated geographical areas. This individual acts as a primary Legal Department contact to communities, assisting with items including, but not limited to, vendor contracts, surveys/plans of corrections, admission and termination documentation, litigation, and permits and licenses.

  • Maintain organization and timely updates of systems relating to state surveys, community licenses, permits and vendor contracts.
  • Monitor and assist in the preparation and timely filing of plans of correction to state licensing authorities.
  • Review proposed community vendor contracts and ensure compliance with Company policies and approval requirements.
  • Review, revise, and prepare varied documentation to support the admission of new residents and the termination of existing residencies.
  • Prepare, apply for, and renew operating permits required for the communities.
  • Provide litigation support to Operations Counsel, including coordinating with outside legal counsel as needed
  • Provide assistance to Employment and Labor Counsel on litigation and other matters.
  • Maintain communication with communities to assist in research, investigation, and resolution of operating issues.
  • Respond to subpoenas and requests for documents.
  • Prepare quarterly reports regarding state surveys.
  • Prepare and deliver training presentations at orientation programs for new managers.
  • May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience as a paralegal in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Litigation and/or regulatory experience is preferred.
  • Employment law experience is a plus.
  • Paralegal certification or degree from approved paralegal studies program is preferred.
  • Proficiency with personal computer and Windows software applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse personalities.
  • Must have or be willing to get a COVID-19 vaccine, subject to legal requirements.
