Responsibilities

The Treasury group operates in a fast paced work environment, focusing on the management of all payable functions as well as intercompany analysis, third party billing, and cash settlement between multiple legal entities.   The Intercompany Accountant interacts with various levels of accounting personnel to effectively analyze and report budget variances, ensure all applicable intercompany charges are billed and monitor/resolve disputes. This individual is a key member of the Accounting team, working directly with management in identifying and implementing internal improvements to intercompany accounting processes in order to provide timely, accurate information and to ultimately safeguard Company assets.

 

  • Analyze, monitor, and resolve intercompany charge disputes and discrepancies related to intercompany journal entries.
  • Instruct and supervise Accounts Payable team with regards to obtaining appropriate intercompany documentation for invoice preparation, as needed.
  • Oversee, prepare and make recommendations to settle intercompany fund requests for approval; ensure appropriate journal entries are recorded.
  • Review and interpret property management agreements to ensure management fee, expense reimbursement, and working capital policies, procedures and due dates are being met.
  • Analyze, create and distribute third party invoices and supporting schedules for multiple business owners in USD and/or CAD.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain procedures and policies for the intercompany accounting function, with assistance from managers.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the different ownership structures and joint venture partners.
  • Lead or participate, as required, in training and skills development initiatives as a subject matter expert.
  • Make recommendations in the development of new intercompany modules and resource tools
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for balance sheet and intercompany accounts.
  • May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.

 

 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field. Graduate level degree in accounting related field preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in Accounting, with an emphasis on general ledger, intercompany, and accounts payable.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a solid background in accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis and project management.
  • Experience with trend analysis and accounts payable management.
  • Foreign currency experience is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills including the advanced/expert use of Microsoft Excel, the full Microsoft Office Suite, and PeopleSoft.
  • Experience with Hyperion and other intercompany software is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Must have or be willing to get a COVID-19 vaccine, subject to legal requirements.
