Every day, our employees bring warmth, dedication and a deep commitment to making residents and their families feel at home. But sometimes, they go beyond even that, turning simple acts of kindness into life-changing experiences. That’s why we celebrate those who make an extraordinary impact through our Atria Uncommon Hospitality distinction – an honor recently awarded to Kellie Harris, Community Sales Director at Atria Park of Vintage Hills. Her incredible compassion and attention to detail helped one family navigate an incredibly difficult time with a sense of comfort, belonging and hope.
Finding home after loss
Uncommon hospitality has the power to bring comfort, connection and hope. This was especially true for Daniel and Enid Lambert, who lost their home in the Southern California wildfires of January 2025. Displaced and searching for a fresh start, their son, Joe, began looking for a place where the couple could feel safe, supported and at home.
A thoughtful welcome
After visiting several senior living communities in the area, Joe stopped by Atria Park of Vintage Hills and met Kellie. She recognized how much the family had been through and wanted to do more than just offer an apartment – she wanted to create a sense of belonging. Using a photo of the couple that Joe shared with her, Kellie carefully curated a welcome basket filled with personal touches. She included Enid’s favorite chocolates, the couple’s preferred trail mix and a book of crossword puzzles – a pastime Enid loves. To make their visit even more special, she framed a photo of Daniel and Enid together and placed it in the model apartment, helping them envision their new home.
An emotional moment
When Enid saw the thoughtful details, she was overcome with emotion. “How did you know?” she asked, moved by the kindness. The answer: Kellie’s uncommon hospitality – small yet profound gestures that transformed a difficult transition into a moment of warmth and recognition. The Lamberts moved in later that month and have since embraced the friendships, activities and safety their new home provides. Kellie checks in on them regularly, ensuring that the feeling of home isn’t just something they found once – it’s something they experience every day.
Celebrating extraordinary employees
Recognizing employees who go the extra mile is an important part of our culture. When team members like Kellie bring compassion and creativity to their roles, they create an environment where both employees and residents flourish. By celebrating those who make a difference, we ensure that uncommon hospitality remains at the heart of everything we do.
